If It Won't Fit On A Post-It, It Won't Fit In Your... →
I’ve been doing this lately, and it really helps me not feel overwhelmed by endless unfinished tasks. I just focus on getting through 3 or 4 tasks on a single Post-It note. If I finish all the tasks, I make another one and get to work. At the end of the day, I throw away the current Post-It note and create a new one when I get to work the next morning. That way it’s always fresh.

This is a very thoughtful article about the social and economic downsides of Wall Street (as it now exists.)

A Bike-Share in NYC is great news! Biking is such an enjoyable way to get around the city. Currently, I bike to work 3 or 4 days a week, and that means locking my bike up outside and risking having it stolen. If a bike-share is available, I can use these bikes to get around town without that nagging “what-if” sensation. Perfect for short trips

“You don’t need to see his identification.”
On November 21, 2010, I was allowed to enter the U.S. through an airport security checkpoint without being x-rayed or touched by a TSA officer. This post explains how.
Edit: Minor edits for clarity. I have uploaded the audio and it is available

Cycling's New Rules of the Road - WSJ.com →
I have a draft blog post sitting in Evernote titled “The Don’t Be an Asshole Rule.” However it looks like the NYC DOT beat me to it.
In the next few months, DOT will unveil several campaigns for radio, television and billboards. One series of television ads will take aim at cyclists who ride on sidewalks, pedal through red lights and go against traffic.
The campaign,...

I’ve linked to this story before. Here’s the NPR report on Bishop Jim Swilley’s admission that he’s gay. I am in awe that a mega-church pastor could have the courage to make such a bold admission that could have cost him everything to help end the persecution of LGBT teens. His stand totally gels with my understanding of Jesus who wants us to minister to those who are...

I would have linked directly to the article, but I couldn’t bring myself to actually support redstate.com. However, I do find this another hilarious example of the idiocy and inefficiency that is the TSA.
Lawmakers Move to Eject Nude Scanners From New... →
I am happy to see that New York is leading the charge to end the ridiculous new TSA screening procedures. If this legislation passes, I think it will start a cascade of similar measures.
Why doesn’t the TSA rethink it’s priorities and start doing things that actually make us safer without violating our rights.

Old New York in Colour - Part 1 - Downtown - New... →
I love old pictures of New York. These are pictures of downtown Manhattan in the 1940’s. I live in this area, so all these buildings are familiar to me, but it’s really strange to see how things have changed in 70 years.

WHEN I told people I was visiting Los Angeles for a week without setting foot in a car, one word came up more than any other: “impossible.”

This is a disgusting failure of our legal system. District Attorney Mark Hurlbert should be impeached/fired for this gross misjustice. At least, we know that the voters in Colorado can kick him out of office when he’s up for re-election.
update: here is the DA’s response to the negative press. He actually has a valid defense in my opinion - http://j.mp/amKqY6

Jason Fried describes a class that he would love to teach at the college level. I love the gist of his idea - we should develop the ability to communicate with brevity and clarity.

“I’ve had a vision and I can’t shake it,” begins ‘mrsammercer’ in an online post on the last day of August – three days after Glenn Beck held his well-attended “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial. “Colbert needs to hold a satirical rally in D.C.”
