If his campaign fizzles, I think Colbert would make a great vice-presidential running mate to Connor Ratliff.

The True Cost of Commuting | Mr. Money Mustache →
This article is a few months old, but it’s a great break down of how much money you car drivers waste on your “short” commutes.

Comments Still Off →
parislemon: Here’s the thing: while some try to paint comments as a form of democracy, that’s bullshit. 99.9% of comments are bile. I’ve heard the counter arguments about how you need to curate and manage your comments — okay, I’m doing that by not allowing any. I welcome feedback. Just do it on your own site or on Twitter, Facebook, etc. That small barrier alone removes most of the idiots.  ...

parislemon: First and foremost, I love your content. You’ve produced several of my favorite shows over the years, and the hits keep on coming. I’d love to watch Game of Thrones now, but I can’t. You see, the only way to get your service is to be a cable subscriber, and several months ago I cut the cord. …

Kepler Discovery Ushers In The Age Of Planets :... →
An ancient question is being answered here. Since the time of the Hellenistic Greeks human beings have asked if other planets might exist around other stars. The possibility of life on those other worlds always hovered just beyond that first question. Now, in our own era, we have definitely answered the question of “other planets” (we can expect billions of them in our galaxy alone)....

City Room: Transportation Chief Steps Into... →
I’ve always been a fan of Janette Sadik-Khan. She has held her ground against some really entrenched and politically connected opponents and fought to make NYC safer and more efficient for everyone. I can’t wait to go back to New York after the bike share program has gotten started. It will be like a much more chaotic version of Paris’s Velib bike share.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I am going to follow suit and turn off comments. I get a few readers on my blog, but most of my posts are *at best* good for a chuckle. If you want to raise a point or discuss something with me, there’s always Twitter.
